about

Growing up right in the 70’s & 80's in 08809

lyrics

I was born in Clinton in 69
just up this hill and just in time
for those lovely folks of mine
to get a deduction

the younger bro of just two boys
breaking things and making noise
but following the sound of joy
without caution

Armstrong was walkin on the moon
and I was hearing tunes

about the things you do for love
and the 50 ways to leave
wantin to be rhinestone cowboys
rocket men & summer breeze
i had no idea what the words meant
but i sure did like the sound
of AM radio in mom's VW
singing while we drove through town

We grew up sail'ing on the reservoir
and at clinton point theatre
& ice cream was never far at the Daz-o-del
clinton pubic K thru 8
North Hunterdon for high school days
i can't think of a better way or a better place

Michael Jackson sliding cross the moon
and i was hearing tunes

about open arms & walkin this way
& how no one is to blame
867-5309 & being born in the USA
started learning what the words meant
but i mostly liked the sound
hangin out without a worry
singing as we drove thru town

now here we are back in this place
with your familiar faces

and it's great to see my old friends
with husbands wives babies and
the circle all comes back again
and the songs play on

and it's a Black Potatoe Moon
and we're singin tunes

about Fuzzy Dice and Backroad Drivers
how the world ain't slowin down
kangaroos and how sweet life is
just wingin and prayerin yourself around
now i know what all the words mean
but mostly i just like the sound
jammin out without a worry
right here in our little town
singing in our little town
