about

Based on the story in the Times about the Zodiac signs being adjusted due to misalignment over the years. Well that's the back story. Not sure it makes sense without knowing the story, but luckily I'm a folksinger and I get to talk before the song...

Zodiac Blues - Gregg Cagno 1/20/2011, ASCAP

I woke up this mornin', and knew something had changed
my room felt rotated, and so did my brain
I thought to blame the tequila, but that just didn’t seem fair
so i checked on Facebook, to see what had been shared

It seems some old Astrologer, had a bit of a wine
& decided that the moon, has left us misaligned
So I’d gone’ to sleep a Capricorn, & woken Sagittarius
& I’ve just begun’ to see, what the implication was

where I used to be the epitome, of a hard workin practical man
a good manager who tended to prefer, stickin with the traditional plan
now i’m frequently seeking, answers to the big questions of life
an archer who’s an extrovert & in a changing world I thrive
so I’m rewriting my mantra, i’ll quit my job and grow my hair
i feel so lucky being told what to be,
who to see, how to feel, what to wear

So everyone gets shifted, one sign back from where you’re born
and the dawning of Aquarius, is now the age of Capricorn
so I guess that means the hippies, are now the practical ones
bet they knew that all along and just kept on having fun

To make things line up right, they added a 13th sign
it’s Ophiuchus, the Serpent Holder, if he don’t stop that he’ll go blind
& now I guess chart readers, are gonna have to give refunds
to make up for the stuff they made up, or just take the money and run

where I used to be the epitome, of a hard workin practical man
a good manager who tended to prefer, stickin with the traditional plan
now i’m frequently seeking, answers to the big questions of life
an archer who’s an extrovert & in a changing world I thrive
so I’m rewriting my mantra, i’ll quit my job and grow my hair
i feel so lucky being told what to be,
who to see, how to feel, what to wear
Oh ain’t it fun lettin your life be run
by the stars, the moon & the sun
